Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
Camino de Santiago.
53 days to go.
For a few years now I have heard people talking about this famous pilgrim walk, and have always felt intrigued. Last year a programme on BBC 1 featured celebrities walking the route, and so no time like the present, last summer I popped into my local travel agent and began to formulate a trip.
Having spoken to fellow walkers from St Philip & St James we organised and walked a mini Camino from Alderley to Chester Cathedral over 3 days. Last August, A total of 40 miles.
This spurred us on.
We encouraged some fellow pilgrims from St Peters Church in Hale, and so we are now a band of 16 pilgrims/walkers, who on 25th May 2019 will set off from Leon and walk 150km of the Camino de Santiago , and hopefully finish on Sunday 2nd June.
I am keen to do this walk , mainly as a challenge, physically and I suspect mentally. I have read lots of accounts of this walk being life changing, so I am open minded and hopefully prepared as I can be for what happens. Stock piling plasters already!
2nd April 2019.
